Sizing PC-lint Plus View server and Database

The disk space necessary for analyses vary depending mainly on the volume and volatility of the data to be analyzed. It is therefore difficult to accurately calculate the space that your PC-lint Plus View installation will use.

We recommend an empiric approach, taking the Hardware Requirements as a start point. After a few runs you should be able to estimate how much disk space is needed by working out how much disk space is used by a typical project in your context.

Keep in mind that the first version of a project is always more costly than subsequent analyses, and that an analysis with only a few changes will use significantly less space than an analysis with numerous changes.

Disk Space Optimization

PC-lint Plus View can generate significant data volumes when handling large projects with multiple versions, especially when having several projects with identical code. Be aware that project’s drafts also use space, hence the importance of putting in place best practices.

Hereunder we list some recommendations to reduce disk usage.

  • Avoid excessive records of projects.

  • Archive and delete unnecessary projects.

  • Privilege the use of branches for projects with the same code.
